I broek the welds around the pumpkin that hold it to he outer shafts. And pulled the shock out of it's socket as well. Everything else is fine, no damage, except maybe some internals in the rear end.

OK, rear end came in today. My mechanic said it looked to be in pretty good shape. He'll be pulling the rear cover off, giving it a once over and then new grease. Hopefully, if everything goes well, I may have the car back Thursday, I think the biggest factor right now is the shock mount, which something needs to be fabricated to fix it. Luckily my mechanic is a fabricator too!

Oh, the rear end is a '77 posi-trac 3.23.

The rear end from Bighooch arrived yesterday and looks to be in good order. New grease will be put in and it seems that she's going back together tomorrow, Thursday 3/20/08. If things go well, I'll probably pick her up Friday. I will, of course, take pics of the new setup when done :P

Some good news and some bad news. Good news, I picked the car up today and she rides totally different. Very smooth, quiet, feels good and solid!

The bad news, they could not "fix" the shock mount... totally. They have a temporary fix in place which is solid but it's not the correct way. I'll be taking the car down to a body shop early next week to see what damage this will cause the pocket book. The mechanic indicated that the frame is rusted..... <pause, deep breath, inhale, exhale> so, I need to see what we are looking at. It could be just a small patch where the shock mount is, he doesn't know how far it goes. The frame is solid through out the rest of the car so I was surprised when he indicated this area was rusted up which helped to contribute to the shock breaking lose. I'll get some pics this weekend, I have class tonight.
