Well, I guess I have it too then!
Smokey in the Bandit did it for me too! I was 6 years old when my parents took me to the movies to see it. After that in the first grade a friend and I made a promise to each other...I would buy the car and he would by the rig. Well, by my senior year, I had the car...a '76 T/A that I soon painted S.E. and drove into college. I am still waiting on my friend to buy the rig.
I have had 3 T/As in my life ('73, '76, and '77). The '73 I owned for about a week when I was about 16 and my Dad said I couldn't keep it because the guy couldn't come up with a clear title.

The '76 was the car that I enjoyed for many years. The '77 I bought, sold, and bought back about 10 years later for my son. See this disease can be passed to your children so be careful.
This is how SCC all got started. Many of you have heard this story or read it on the "About Us" page of the website, but for those of you who haven't read the story click on

What's in a Name?
There is a deep connection when it comes to me and Pontiacs. My Dad sold his '68 GTO that he bought new because I was about to be born. I always felt bad about that, so I bought him one, restored it, and gave it to him. We gave it back and forth for years. I forgot to mention that I grew up always hearing about how fast his GTO was (they were estimated for insurance purposes to have 385 horses from the factory), so I had to put a bored out 455 Super Duty with a 292 cam and roller rockers in the one I gave him to show Pop what fast was...

Well, I ended up selling it when we were expecting our first son. Go figure.

Let's go a step further...The year I was born, 1973, was also was the first appearance of the large "screaming chicken" hood graphic. So from that and the fact that I was unable to keep my '73 T/A and the fact that I have been "chasing" a '73 ever since hence the name "Screamin’ Chicken Chasers". The name SCC has a few double meanings because it is for all of those Trans-Am fans like me, who are "chasing" their dreams and we help them by "chasing" parts down for them. That is the rest of the story as Paul Harvey would say. So next time you wonder...what's in a name...now you know.
I guess this all makes me a 2nd generation Pontiac diseased and passing on to the "disease" to a 3rd generation. My how I love traditions!

Well that's my story and I am sticking to it.
Motor City Threads proposed an idea for a Firebird and Trans-Am registry, so look for that section to be added to the SCC forum soon! Thanks for such a great section idea!
