Just wondering how sick I really am.
I have owned over 10 TA's
It was my first car I'm sure it will be my last.
Smokey and the Bandit was the first movie my parents took me too.
My first car memory was in my brothers 79 TA.
Met my wife because of a TA.
Drove her to the hospital in it too have my first son.\
Smokey and the bandit was on the hospital tv while she was in labor.
Not one day goes by that I don't in some way work on talk about or create a graphic having to do with TA's
I can't help buying TA merchandise even if I don't need it.
Some of my favorite sports teams are so because they use TA colors.
My house has TA clocks Etc.

How about you?

Yep, you've got it, TransAm-itis. The perscription is to take on Trans Am, usually 2nd generation, and drive for 150 miles in the country side. It helps to get the heart rate up.

1st car ever started: 67 Firebird, I was 4 yrs old

Car most scammed from our dealership salesmen: Trans Ams & Formulas.

2nd car owned was a 69 Firebird.

Last car owned before 20 years of owning trucks: 79 Z28

Bought my 78 Bird in 2005 and I'm not letting it go!

I know I'm not as bad as some of you guys, but my addiction to cars isn't just limited to the Bird. I'm addicted to Pontiacs! :)

Finally, another NORMAL person...lol. OH how I can relate. I havent owned that many T/As, but, I am totally obsessed. Started out with Smokey & The Bandit, then all the T/A toys growing up, which lead to the purchase of my 81 T-top T/A, which lead me to draw all of the concept cars that landed in 5 national magazines, which lead me to the T/A Nationals in Ohio - became the designer of their merchandise 07 - 08, which led me to alot of attention in the T/A world and alot of really great people, which lead me to the Year One Experience in Georgia and the end of the bandit run where I met Chip Foose, Kevin King & Mike Ashmore - Dave Hall from Restore a Muscle Car, which led me to more great T/A people, which led me to Tyler Habrick who built me a 1 of 1 R/C Kevin Morgan Concept T/A, which got me on the Hot Rod TV show, which got me on TV on the Burt Builds A Bandit show on DIY, which led me to make a video for the Burt Builds A Bandit Contest on Heavy.com, and eventually lead me to meet Kevin and become a member of Screamin Chicken Chasers!!!

That is the condensed version....lol....there is alot more "behind the scenes stuff"

Well, I guess I have it too then!

Smokey in the Bandit did it for me too! I was 6 years old when my parents took me to the movies to see it. After that in the first grade a friend and I made a promise to each other...I would buy the car and he would by the rig. Well, by my senior year, I had the car...a '76 T/A that I soon painted S.E. and drove into college. I am still waiting on my friend to buy the rig. :D

I have had 3 T/As in my life ('73, '76, and '77). The '73 I owned for about a week when I was about 16 and my Dad said I couldn't keep it because the guy couldn't come up with a clear title. The '76 was the car that I enjoyed for many years. The '77 I bought, sold, and bought back about 10 years later for my son. See this disease can be passed to your children so be careful.

This is how SCC all got started. Many of you have heard this story or read it on the "About Us" page of the website, but for those of you who haven't read the story click on http://www.screaminchickenchasers.com/about_us and go check out the story called "A Bird in the Hand…Our Story".

What's in a Name?
There is a deep connection when it comes to me and Pontiacs. My Dad sold his '68 GTO that he bought new because I was about to be born. I always felt bad about that, so I bought him one, restored it, and gave it to him. We gave it back and forth for years. I forgot to mention that I grew up always hearing about how fast his GTO was (they were estimated for insurance purposes to have 385 horses from the factory), so I had to put a bored out 455 Super Duty with a 292 cam and roller rockers in the one I gave him to show Pop what fast was... Well, I ended up selling it when we were expecting our first son. Go figure. Let's go a step further...The year I was born, 1973, was also was the first appearance of the large "screaming chicken" hood graphic. So from that and the fact that I was unable to keep my '73 T/A and the fact that I have been "chasing" a '73 ever since hence the name "Screamin’ Chicken Chasers". The name SCC has a few double meanings because it is for all of those Trans-Am fans like me, who are "chasing" their dreams and we help them by "chasing" parts down for them. That is the rest of the story as Paul Harvey would say. So next time you wonder...what's in a name...now you know.

I guess this all makes me a 2nd generation Pontiac diseased and passing on to the "disease" to a 3rd generation. My how I love traditions! :D Well that's my story and I am sticking to it. :D

Motor City Threads proposed an idea for a Firebird and Trans-Am registry, so look for that section to be added to the SCC forum soon! Thanks for such a great section idea! 8)

I got infected back in 1989 when I first saw Smokey and The Bandit. When Bandit drove the T/A out of the trailer I just knew I had to have one..... and now I have 2! :P I had a guy ask me the other day if I had any "normal" clothes. When I asked him what he meant by that he said, "Everthing you wear has a Firebird on it". As my family and friends will attest, I am a Trans Am addict. I'm always on the prowl for the next piece for my collection. When I see a 'bird locally, I track down the owner, usually to see if it's for sale but always to touch base. I always tell them about TAC, 78TA and now SCC. I'd like to start a local chapter or club but things are a bit busy right now.

Clearly the only cure is to own and drive a Trans Am, regardless of the vintage.
