Yes it is.

Here's the pics of the car sanded and primed. Back when I did this I forgot how to post pics.

I recently installed new brake lines from the master cylinder to the rear calipers, new brake hose and fittings. The front lines will be done when it goes to my uncle's shop. New auto X calipers and rotors, with wagner brake pads. New roof rail weather stripping. I don't have any pics of that stuff, sorry.

My dual gate came friday. Today I started fixing it. I removed the shifter bezel/gear indicator, shifter bezel mounting plate, and mounting brackets. I also cleaned out the base.

I sanded a small spot on the bezel mounting plate, and luckily it's only surface rust and not pitted.

Someone in the past tried fixing this, didn't have good luck with it.

Wow, your dash cap looks like it fits a whole lot better than mine. One area that will need attention is around the glovebox door. There's just a little too much material there and it binds the door shut.

Haven't quite decided whether to shave my door (and what problems that might create) or trim the pad and risk it not adhearing to the glovebox opening as nicely.

So far it hasn't been a problem as I exhibit the car with the glovebox open to show the original owner's manual and paperwork.

Congrats on the progress and on scoring the dualgate shifter - that's a real find!

Thanks, I love the shifter.

I can't really say anything about that cause the cap isn't fully installed and I didn't put the glovebox door back on.
Isn't there a small lip of material on the cap around the glovebox opening? If so I'd try trimming that off, then it would probably be fine.

Nice!
I love the Dual Gate shifter!
I bought mine way back in the early 80s, and installed it in my '81 modded Turbo Trans Am.

It's not even installed in my car yet, and I love how it works.

You still have that 81?

Oh ya,
I still have it.
I modded the hell out of it, back during the late 80s.
I love how it looks, but everyone has to tell me that they hate it.
I didn't build it for them, I built it for me.
It is no longer a Special Edition.
Back then, these cars were worth hardly anything.
Even the older ones.
They didn't start climbing up in price till around late '89, and my car was already built up by then.
Hell, I still have the old as the hills Alpine cell phone in the car, which can no longer be activated.
I would love to use it again!

Ya,
I have photos up on my photobucket account, but I don't want to take away from your tread.
BTW, your Dual Gate may be older than mine, as my plate doesn't have the "Hurst" and "Dual Gate" molded into it.
Mine is smooth, with 3 decals that came with it.
Black, wood grain, and the turned alum, like the plate over the Trans Am gauges.
It looks like it came out super!

Good work,

George

Thanks guys.

Tomarrow I'm soaking the shifter in a rust remover to get rid of the rust on the base. Then it will be ready to go in the car.

warbird: I'd like to see it your T/A. Could you post a link to you photobucket?
