I've been lurking around reading different posts and whatnot and figured I would join.
Now let me say a few words about myself...Im an oilfield roustabout. I live in Millersburg Ohio aka amish country. I'm not too big on recreating every detail back to factory. I'm all about reliability and simplicity. If its worth building its worth over building.
Now about the car. Its a 78 firebird esprit with a 350.
The body is in okay shape. Okay might even be pushing it. I need to replace the quarter panels, doors, front fenders and inner and outer rear wheelhouses. We stripped the whole interior to see just how bad the ole girl was expecting the worst but what we found was encouraging. Aside from the quarters I have all the exterior pieces(they came with an 81 camaro I bought.as a parts car.
Under the hood we are going to swap out the 350 for a 6.0 vortec we've had around the shop.
So all in all its gonna be a fun little project. By the way when I say we I'm refering to my brother from another mother TJ and myself JJ.
So where can I buy full quarter panels for my 78? The only thing I have found in my year one book is quarter panel skins. Any help would be a godsend.
Also sorry I have no pics but I'm on my blackberry.

Welcome, JJ, glad you joined. Sounds like a pretty comprehensive project you're involved with. You mentioned all the panels you need to replace, but the Camaro parts may not be your best bet. If you cut and weld patch panels, you may be okay. But in their entirety, the only exterior pieces that interchange are the trunk lid and the filler panel between the decklid and the rear glass. Doors, fenders, roof and hood all were different between Firebirds and Camaros.

Floorpans and trunk pan should be okay. But like I said, you may be able to cut patch panels to repair many of the problem areas.

I should have been more clear about the parts car... The doors fenders and a few other things just came along with the camaro when I bought it. They are actually off of a trans am.

And it looks like were going to need to get a new tail pan also. No big deal though.
I had no idea how much fun this would be. Just me and a buddy throwin back a few listening to music and swingin wrenches.
