Here's a couple Firebird models I've recently finished. This first one is actually a 1970 Trans Am kit that I built a number of years ago. It was never painted and the decals had started to yellow. So I stripped them off, gave the body a good sanding and repainted it.

Here's the latest I just finished on Friday night. It's a AMT 1969 Trans Am kit that I bought at a flea market back in 06. When I fianlly got around to building it I found the kit didn't come with the blue stripes but rather a set of black ones. I decided to change the color and build it my way instead of a 69 TA. I originally had the body painted a funky orange that I had mixed up but I didn't make enough to cover so I eneded up changing to a more metallic Red.

Very nice work! I especially like the custom work on the '70. Interesting about the stripes on the '69. I've got two variants of the same kit from AMT/Ertl (unbuilt as of yet - I stockpile this stuff) but the '69 TA decal sheet definately has blue stripes in it. If you can enlarge the image enough to see, there's a box with an illustration of a violet model (the kit is actually white) and the one above shows the Trans Am version, also molded in white. The upper one is opened and I've checked the decals. The lower one is still sealed.

Thanks!

I figure someone may have pulled the decals out at some point in time as the box was open when I had bought it. It is the same as your kit (2nd from top on right). The red 68 is the Revell Firebird 400 2 in 1 kit (bottom of right stack).

I keep any and all spare parts from kits so that I can do some custom work on them like the blower, slicks and decals on the 70.
