I have 2 of these remote control cars. they have never been opened. One box had a slight rip in it so I used that as an opportunity to see the instructions inside and they were dated 1978. I have a third one that is black that was in bad shape. The goal is to one day upgrade it to new electronics and paint it to match my car.

Very cool! I have a black one with gold stripes. Mine was a Sears 'Steadyrider Shocks' marketing giveaway,also from 1978. In addition to forward, reverse and non-proportional turning, the headlights illuminate. Great fun at indoor car shows when you're just sitting around the exhibit killing time. Has both a 'slow' and 'fast' gear setting.
